Neal Francis and his bandmates appeared on Letterman a week or so ago, and I thought I was prepared for the event. I am a fan since the 70's, having seen Neal Francis several times in the past, and loved how the arrangements were changed to fit the blue-grass and 30's type blues format. The show was a musician's dream. Neal Francis and crew were on top of it. Dallas' crowd was a bit sedate during most of the show, but Neal Francis' storytelling and song delivery were great. He played a lot of hits and a great amount of his new material, which is incredible if you are a true fan. Then, for good measure, he threw in the Grateful Dead's "Friend of the Devil" and the Stones' "Happy." Needless to say, I completely enjoyed the evening.
